Privacy Policy

Last updated July 30, 2026

Draft notice — This privacy policy is a plain-language draft describing 5volts’ actual data and product practices. It was written by the team, not by a lawyer, and has not had legal review. It must be reviewed by qualified counsel before 5volts opens to the public.

1. What this covers

5volts is currently invite-only. This policy explains what information we collect from people who use 5volts, why we collect it, and who we share it with. It covers the 5volts product only.

2. Information we collect

Account information

Your email address (required — it’s what you sign in with), handle, display name, bio, avatar image, country, location, website, and any external links you add, plus your saved preferences and, if someone invited you, which account that was. If you set up a company account, we also collect your company name, industry and description.

Activity

The posts, comments, collections, buy-lists, follows, likes, saved items and direct messages you create, and when you were last active on the platform.

Social sign-in

If you sign in with Google, Facebook or X, we receive your email address and basic profile from that provider and store a link between your 5volts account and that provider’s account id. We do not receive or store your password for those services.

Buy-link clicks

When you click a buy link, we record a session id, a hashed version of your IP address, a truncated user-agent string, and the page you clicked from. We never store your raw IP address — only the hash. This is how we attribute clicks to the retailer offers shown on 5volts.

Uploaded media

Images and videos you upload, plus the resized renditions and video poster frames we generate from them.

3. Prices and buy links

Prices shown on 5volts are estimates. When you click a buy link, it routes through 5volts before opening the retailer’s site — that redirect is how the click attribution described above gets recorded.

4. Who we share information with

  • An S3-compatible object storage provider, which hosts uploaded media.
  • An external foreign-exchange rate service, used to display prices in your local currency. We don’t send it any personal data.
  • Google, Facebook and X — only if you choose to sign in through one of them.
  • Our email delivery provider, for account actions like password reset.

We don’t run an advertising network and we don’t use any third-party analytics tracker.

5. Direct messages

Direct messages are stored unencrypted in our database. They are not end-to-end encrypted, and are visible to the 5volts team operating the platform. Please don’t treat DMs as a fully private or confidential channel.

6. Invite-only access

5volts is invite-only at present. Creating an account currently requires a valid invite code, and we keep a record of which account invited you.

7. Your choices

You can update most of your profile information directly from Settings. You can deactivate your account, which disables sign-in. To request a full export or deletion of your data, email us at jimit@thehumblehomes.com.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
